A Government allocation of €120,000 to provide new youth services in rural areas of Clare has been welcomed by Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey.
The funding will come from the ‘UBU Your Place -Your Space’ programme being implemented by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
“Clare is one of only eight areas selected for inclusion in the programme and the fact that it will be targeted at rural areas where there is a deficit of services for young people is particularly significant,” Deputy Carey explained.
“These are long term investments into communities supported by clear needs analysis and backed by the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board which completed a local needs assessment to inform the establishment of the new services.
“The introduction of the ‘UBU Your Place Your Space’ initiative has given us a coherent mechanism to create new youth services where they are needed across the county,” Deputy Carey added.
