Good news for County Clare. Simon Harris TD, Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform with special responsibility for the OPW has made an allocation today of an additional €1.4m to Clare County Council for costal repairs and storm damage work.
This funding is on top of the €8.276m already allocated to Clare County Council in Feb 2014 of which €6.9m has been spent to date completing works.
This new funding allocation will enable Clare County Council to address flood defence issues in the Shannon Estuary from Ballynacally to Kildysart and Ladasheda to Carrigaholt and Kilbaha and along the Atlantic Coast in areas such as in Farrihy Bay, Lough Donnell and Ryanaonnaught, Doonbeg.
I want to thank the Minister and I also want to commend the work of the IFA on this matter. Let’s hope that these required works can proceed as soon as possible.
