Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has welcomed approval from the Department of Education for a major extension at Scariff Community College to proceed to construction stage.
The extension, which was approved under the additional school accommodation scheme, will include two mainstream classrooms as well as a dedicated metalwork room and a dedicated woodwork room.
Deputy Carey said that the extension, and particularly the two subject-specific rooms, will facilitate a variety of co-curricular activities to support students in reaching their full potential.
“It will also do away with the necessity of having so many classes being taught in pre-fab classrooms.
“Operating under the auspices of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, Scariff Community College, provides inclusive, student-centered and holistic education to the young people of East Clare and this latest development ensures that this will continue for many years to come,” he added.
