Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has described an allocation of almost €380,000 to two new technology projects in the Mid West as a good result for enterprise and job creation in the county.
He was speaking after Business, Enterprise and Innovation Minister Heather Humphreys announced the sixteen projects that will benefit from the new €2.5 million Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Competitive Fund.
€195,000 was allocated to a project which aims to encourage technology innovation and software driven start-ups in the Mid-West. A further €184,467 went to a project to promote the existing network of Smart e-hubs across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary to attract and retain workers in villages across the region.
“These project will be administered by the Local Enterprise Offices who will reach out to small businesses and entrepreneurs across the county, even in the most rural areas.
“It is really positive to see the Local Enterprise Offices working together in this way to further develop enterprise activity across county lines. This is good news for job creation right across the country”, Deputy Carey added.
All projects are aligned with the strategic objectives in the Regional Enterprise Plans and the ambitions in Future Jobs Ireland, the Government’s strategy to drive Ireland’s development as a resilient, innovative, and globally connected economy, capable of coping with technological and other transformational changes ahead.
