Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has confirmed that €261,032 has been allocated to eleven Clare projects in the latest round of Sports Capital Equipment Grants.
Stressing that the grants were issued solely for the purchase of equipment, Deputy Carey said that around 1,500 further applications for non-equipment only grants are still being processed and will be allocated in September.
Grants approved in the current round of funding were as follows:
€74,230 to Ennis Golf Club for the purchase of machinery to improve course playability;
€53,339 to Shannon Golf Club for the purchase of course machinery;
€40,000 to Kilrush Golf Clubfor the purchase of a fairway mower;
€17,972 to the Clare Branch of the Irish Pony Club for the purchase of training equipment;
€17,673 to Tulla Angling Club for the purchase of a boat for disabled people;
€14,863 to Kilkee/Bealaha Hurling and Camogie Club for equipment to implement a skills programme;
€13,265 to the West Clare Judo Club for crash mats;
€12,940 to Kilkee Sub Aqua Club for the purchase of a vehicle to tow RIB boat;
€11,370 to the Clare Crusaders for non-personal training equipment;
€4,500 to the Burren Cycling Club for the purchase of a tandem bike;
€880 to Sixmilebridge Camogie Club for the purchase of coaching equipment.
Deputy Carey said that the top 75 per cent of equipment only applications received funding and clubs whose applications were unsuccessful on this occasions may appeal the decision.
