Nine men’s sheds in Clare will share a €14,490 allocation from the Government’s Community Enhancement Programme to improve their facilities and services.
Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey said that grants of €1,610 for the purchase of tools, defibrillators and equipment has been approved for men’s sheds in Clarecastle, Doonbeg, Ennis, Ennistymon, Mountshannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Parteen, Shannon and Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry.
“In recent years, men’s sheds have become a fixture of life in towns and villages throughout Ireland. They offer a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment where men of all ages can share skills, work on meaningful projects and connect with their communities,” Deputy Carey explained.
“Men’s sheds are renowned for their work on community projects, as well as their capacity to advance the health and wellbeing of individual members. This innovative combination of community education and health-promoting activities is a unique characteristic of the men’s shed movement”.
